Graduate Programs
Core Classes
Students complete a minimum of 60 credit hours for a master’s degree in counseling. The counseling program includes 45 credit hours of core courses and 15 credit hours of courses in a specialty area.
Core Courses (45 credit hours)
Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC)
Mental Health Counselors diagnose and treat individuals and groups who deal with a broad range of issues, such as those associated with addictions and substance abuse, stress management, self-esteem, and aging.
Students complete 15 credit hours of courses in CMHC.
COU 710: Advanced Counseling Theories and Practice (3 credits)
COU 720: Practicum in Counseling (4 credits)
COU 730: Internship in Counseling I (4 credits)
COU 740: Internship in Counseling II (4 credits)
Marriage Couple Family Counseling (MCFC)
Marriage and Family Therapists diagnosis and treat individuals, couples, and families who deal with a broad range of issues, such as those associated with parenting, separation and divorce, child development, and home management.
Students complete 15 credit hours of courses in MCFC.
