Mission Statement
Department of Counseling Mission Statement: The mission of the Counseling Department at Carolina University is to prepare students to become competent and effective licensed professional counselors. We accomplish this by delivering high-quality education and experiences that align with regional and national standards.
Program Objectives
Faculty and staff strive to meet the needs of students by focusing on the following:
- Create a learning environment that is safe, supportive, and inclusive.
- Engage students in activities that encourages them to consider new ideas and the opinions of others.
- Engage students in activities that promote and demonstrate good citizenship and community service.
- Build a culture of accountability in which students demonstrate high professional standards for ethical behavior, clinical skill development, academic performance, interpersonal relationships, professional attitudes, and professional character.
- Adapt to societal demands through education and training across clinical and ministry settings.
- Develop curriculum that meets the academic components required by accreditation bodies, so students are eligible to sit for regional and national exams.
Accreditation
The Department of Counseling is currently seeking accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
